Distinguished speaker Dr. José N. Reyes, Jr., P.E., received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Maryland. He is the Co-founder and CTO of NuScale Power and is a co-inventor of the NuScale small modular reactor with over 110 patents granted or pending in 20 countries. Dr. Reyes is an expert on nuclear plant scaling, passive safety, and testing. At Oregon State University, Dr. Reyes serves as head of the Department of Nuclear Engineering and is now a Professor Emeritus. He was the OSU principal investigator for the Westinghouse AP600 and AP1000 design certification test programs. Dr. Reyes is an ANS Fellow and Member of the National Academy of Engineering.
