PBK Key Into Public Service Scholarship Opportunity
The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s most prestigious academic honor society, has launched a new undergraduate scholarship program to connect promising arts and sciences students with opportunities in public service. The Society invites online applications for the Key into Public Service Scholarship, which will award $5,000 undergraduate scholarships and a trip to D.C. for up to 20 rising sophomore, junior, and senior liberal arts and sciences students interested in public service careers. Students with majors in the arts, humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, or social sciences are encouraged to apply. Please share information about the scholarship to students who you believe demonstrate commitment to academic excellence and interest in public service or service to others.
Characteristics of ideal recipients include intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary breadth and depth of arts and sciences coursework, leadership propensity, and service to others.
Students can visit PBK.org/ServiceScholarsApp to learn more and apply. The application deadline is December 31, 2019.

American Heart Association EmPOWERED to Serve Scholarship
The 2019 scholars competition is accepting applications through Jan. 20, 2020. The program is open to college freshmen and sophomores who are actively addressing social determinants of health like food insecurity, safe housing, job opportunities and access to health care.
Thanks to the generous support of philanthropist and entrepreneur Lawrence Griffith, the founder and CEO of Digital Factory, Inc., this grant cycle will award 10 $10,000 scholarships for 2020. The goal is to empower young leaders to become agents of change in their communities.
Go to our application page to submit a resume, a letter of recommendation and other materials. This includes a personal 60-second video about what health equity means to you and how you’ve made a sustainable, positive impact on a community’s health.
NOAA Hollings Scholarship
Attention SOPHOMORES studying atmospheric and oceanic sciences, environmental engineering, environmental sciences and policy, or ANY major with a strong environmental focus or interest!
The Hollings Scholarship provides two-year academic scholarships (up to a maximum of $9,500 per year) for full-time study, and a 10-week, full-time, paid internship position ($650/week) the summer after junior year at a NOAA facility. In the last five years, 26 Maryland students have won Hollings Scholarships.
The deadline to apply is Friday, January 31, 2020. US Citizenship, sophomore (2nd year) status, and a minimum GPA of 3.0 are required to apply.

Requirements:
- Be a non-traditional, full-time registered degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) during the semester for which the award is made;
- Have completed at least one full semester of enrollment at a college or university and/or be enrolled at the time of application;
- Have at least one semester of study left at UMCP before receiving a degree; and
- Be able to apply the full amount of the award to tuition, living expenses or schooling expenses, such as textbooks or equipment, in the semester for which the scholarship is awarded and disbursed by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
Deadline to apply is December 9, 2019, at 11:59 p.m.

Scholarships will be awarded each fall and spring semester to one or more deserving students. These are one-time awards of up to $1,000 per recipient.

The Garden Club of America now offers 27 merit based scholarships, fellowships and awards in horticulture and related disciplines, including botany, native bird habitat, conservation and ecological restoration, landscape architecture, urban forestry, coastal wetlands, and pollinator research.In March of 2014, 86 students and scholars were awarded over $300,000. Their study will take place in institutions across the nation and some will do field work around the world.

UM Noyce Scholar Program
Noyce Scholars are UM Junior or Senior STEM majors interested in teaching STEM courses to middle or high school students. Noyce Scholars receive a $14,000 scholarship for up to two years. For each year of scholarship received, Noyce Scholars commit to teaching mathematics or science in a high needs district. Application deadlines are December 8th.

Boren Critical Languages Scholarship
The Boren Scholarship is aimed at undergraduates (US citizens) who want to study abroad for one or two semesters (preferably) in 2015-16 in non-traditional regions and countries, and who are interested in learning the languages of those areas. Eligible regions include Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Scholars take part in a four-day orientation in Tucson, Arizona where they meet with other Scholars, elected officials and environmental leaders. Scholars also gain access to a network of environmental policy professionals through the Udall Alumni list serv.
