Clagett Farm Trip
When: April 29th, 9:00am-1:00pm A quiet moment on Clagett Farm's rolling 283 acres of organic vegetable fields and cattle and sheep pastures. This 283-acre working farm uses regenerative agriculture practices that improve soil health and increase food and water quality. The farm runs a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, raising and harvesting organic vegetables as well as raising both grass-fed beef cattle and sheep. These livestock help us manage our very hilly property in a natural way. We rotate our herds among many pastures, managing the impact they are having on grass and soil and shifting them to the next pasture accordingly. Learn how the proof of concept farm run by the Chesapeake Bay Foundations operates and how you can get involved. |
Anacostia River Canoe Trip (TRIP IS NOW FULL)
When: April 30th Explore the calm, clear waters and the natural abundance of the Anacostia River as it threads through the heart of Washington, DC. The Anacostia has changed dramatically over the last 400 years – from a place of quiet natural abundance and American Indian settlements to a colonial seaport and bustling corridor in the nation’s capital. Water quality has suffered, but strong partnerships and community support are helping the river rebound. As development thrives along the southeast waterfront, interest in the river’s recreational potential has been renewed. |
